A police officer working to protect the UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been arrested on suspicion of betting on when the country's election would be held, reports BBC.
In May, the Prime Minister announced that the election would be held on 4 July.
The police officer has been released on bail and has been suspended from their job. An investigation is underway into suspected betting offences.
However, the police officer is not the only one suspected of breaking the law by betting on when the election would be held.
The Conservative candidate Craig Williams, who is close to Sunak, has also been accused of betting on the date. According to the allegations, he bet £100, equivalent to approximately 1 300 kronor, that there would be an election in July, three days before Sunak announced the election date.
Williams apologised last week, saying he had made a "massively incorrect judgement".
