The Olympics in Paris are approaching.

Several superstars, with millions of followers and fans, are expected to take over the French capital.

TT has listed some of the absolute biggest stars.

+ The USA men's basketball team

The undisputed number one on the list is the "dream team" that the USA is sending to the Olympics, as usual. And this year's team is no less star-studded than any other.

Superstars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have hundreds of millions of followers on social media, and are high up on the list of Olympic stars.

The USA's "dream team" is heading to Paris to try to defend its Olympic gold and win the team's 17th Olympic gold in basketball.

+ Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí

If Olympic football has a low status on the men's side, it's the exact opposite on the women's side. All the teams that have qualified are bringing their absolute best players, and Spain is no exception.

Both Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí, who have been named the world's best female football players over the past three years, are part of the Spanish squad. The world stars play for Barcelona in their daily lives.

+ Simone Biles

Simone Biles is one of the Olympic sport's absolute biggest stars.

The American broke through with a bang during the 2014 World Championship when she became the first American woman to take five gold medals in the same championship at the age of 17. Two years later, at the 2016 Olympics, she won four Olympic golds. Since then, the gymnast has been the sport's undisputed biggest star.

Biles has hinted before the championship that the Olympics in Paris might be her last before she hangs up her shoes.

+ Rafael Nadal

The tennis star is nearing the end of his career, and the Olympics in Paris look set to be one of the 38-year-old's last major tournaments.

Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 on the clay at Roland Garros, which has made him seen as the world's greatest clay-court player of all time.

Fittingly, the Olympic tennis tournament will be played on the clay at Roland Garros in Paris this summer.

+ Marta

Marta is also nearing the end of her career, and the Brazilian has said she plans to end her national team career after 2024. Therefore, the Olympics in Paris will be her last dance.

Marta made her Olympic debut back in 2004 in Athens and has two silver medals. The only thing missing is the gold. She is historic as the only woman to score in five consecutive Olympic Games. No one has scored more World Championship goals than Marta, on either the women's or men's side.

+ Caeleb Dressel

Caeleb Dressel is the closest thing to a Michael Phelps successor that the USA has. The swim star swept the board at the Olympics in Tokyo and won all five gold medals.

Later, the American took a break from swimming, after struggling with mental health issues. Now, the 27-year-old is back to continue chasing Olympic gold and expanding his list of achievements, which includes 21 World Championship golds and 7 Olympic golds.

+ Sha'Carri Richardson

Sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson has made herself popular in the athletics world with her colorful personality.

But despite her 24 years and successful career, the American is making her Olympic debut. Richardson missed the Olympics in Tokyo after being suspended for testing positive for cannabis.

Now, the short-distance runner is aiming to win her third championship gold (two World Championship golds in Budapest 2023), but the competition is tough. Richardson may be the fastest this year with 10.71, but historically, the two Jamaican women Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce have been faster.
