The national bomb squad has detonated a suspected dangerous object in connection to Hägernäs center in Täby north of Stockholm, the police announce.
According to witness statements to SVT, it may have been a hand grenade.
The alarm came in just before 9 am on Saturday morning. The police then cordoned off an area and certain premises and residences within the area were evacuated. The cordons also affected public transportation to some extent.
The cordons will, according to the police, remain in place for some time and a technical investigation will be conducted on site. A preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding attempted public endangerment and offenses against fire hazardous and explosive goods.
