Lindberg's time in the trial was 2.14,42 and the eight best times in the two heats went to the final. The Swede's time was the seventh best.
It was really tough. Especially the last 100. There were a few nerves. We had no audience in Tokyo (2021) because of the pandemic and audience ban, says Pernilla Lindberg.
Conrad Hildebrand missed the final on 50 meters backstroke in class S2. The Swede had a time of 1.19,66 and was thus more than 9 seconds from a final spot, which went to the eight best.
A bit disappointed, actually. 50 has always been a distance that's a bit difficult for me to swim. Sometimes it can go terribly well if the technique is right, sometimes I get a bit too eager and lose the technique, says the 29-year-old to SVT.
Hildebrand missed the final earlier in the championship on 100 meters backstroke, but he will also compete on 200 meters backstroke in Paris on Sunday.
200 meters is usually my favorite event, actually, he says.
Pernilla Lindberg will swim her final on 200 meters freestyle at 17.44 this evening.
