The table tennis duo Emil Andersson and Daniel Gustafsson have advanced to the Paralympic quarterfinals in men's doubles. Thailand's Chalermpong Punpoo and Bunpot Sillapakong took the first set in the round of 16 and then had three set balls in the second, before the blue-yellow turnaround began.
Andersson/Gustafsson won four straight points and eventually took the set 13–11. They won the third set 11–9 and secured the advancement with 11–6 and 3–1 in sets.
In the quarterfinals, they will face the fourth-seeded Polish pair Patryk Chojnowski/Piotr Grudzien.
In women's doubles, it was a direct stop for Anja Händén and Smilla Sand. The Swedish pair lost the round of 16 match against Turkey's Merve Demir and Neslihan Kavas in three straight sets (5–11, 9–11, 4–11).
Händén later got her revenge in mixed doubles, together with Jonas Hansson. The Swedish pair advanced to the round of 16 after 3–1 against Australians Trevor Hirth and Melissa Tapper.
The day still ended on a sour note for Anja Händén, as she and Jonas Hansson lost the round of 16 match against the Brazilian pair Paulo Salmin and Burna Alexandre in three straight sets.
