A 15-year-old has been detained on probable cause suspected of serious weapons offense and attempted murder at a school in Trångsund south of Stockholm on Wednesday.
"I have assessed that there are exceptional grounds for detention despite the suspect's young age," says prosecutor Kajsa Lindberg in a press release.
The suspect denies the crime. A detention hearing will be held on Saturday.
The teenager is a student at the school where he is suspected of having shot and injured another 15-year-old student. The school's principal Kaj Majuri has previously stated that the boy has undergone surgery and will not suffer any permanent injuries from the incident.
The shooting took place in a confined space where no one else was present except for those involved. According to information provided to Aftonbladet, the shooting occurred in a school toilet.
