The Government is appointing two industry coordinators and establishing an acceleration office to speed up the green transition in industry.

Sweden is to become greener and richer, and we must turn climate anxiety into climate hope, says Energy and Business Minister Ebba Busch (KD).

The industry coordinators appointed are Kristina Alvendal, formerly M councillor in Stockholm, and Niklas Nordström, formerly S councillor in Luleå.

The office will, among other things, expedite permit processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose legislative changes.

For Swedish companies to succeed in their transition is crucial for Swedish tax revenues, jobs, and growth. Emissions from industry must also decrease for Sweden to achieve its climate goals.

If we cannot be both meticulous and swift, these investments will end up elsewhere, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).

The Social Democrats' economic policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg writes in a comment to TT that a coordination office "is certainly a good measure", but he lacks concrete proposals from the Government for Swedish industrial projects.

"What is needed now is clear structural reforms", he writes, mentioning, among other things, that the Social Democrats want to see new capacity targets for energy supply by 2030.
