The parents of the vinegar-poisoned girl in Skåne are still being held in custody awaiting a verdict, announces the Court of Appeal for Skåne and Blekinge.

The parents' respective lawyers have previously stated that the indictment should be dismissed in its entirety. They have also requested that the mother and father be released.

In early March, the parents were sentenced to eight years' imprisonment. They were convicted of giving their daughter life-threatening amounts of vinegar, holding her captive, and a range of other serious crimes.

The prosecutor in the case, Ingegerd Jigin, has called for a harsher sentence.

When it comes to punishment, no punishment is severe enough for something like this, but we have frameworks to work within, she said during the final pleading last week.

Both parents and the prosecutor appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeal.

The verdict in the case will be announced on 5 July, writes Skånska Dagbladet.
