The enormous rainfall over the regions of Valencia, Castile-La Mancha, and Andalusia has caused cities to flood, trains to derail, and the death toll is rising.

Several people, including many children, are reported missing. The material damage is extensive.

The cup matches Parla Escuela–Valencia, Pontevedra–Levante, Ejea–Hercules, Xerez–Ceuta, and Manises–Getafe have been postponed. They were scheduled to be played tonight or tomorrow evening, according to NTB.

As the number of fatalities in the storm increases, football has become involved in what has become a national concern.

"FC Barcelona wishes to express its condolences to the families of the victims and its solidarity with the affected regions of Valencia and areas of Albacete and Andalusia hit by heavy rainfall," the club writes on its website.

A similar statement comes from Real Madrid.

It is unclear how the next round of the Spanish league will be affected by the heavy rainfall. Valencia is set to play at home against Real Madrid on Saturday. On the same day, Villarreal will face Rayo Vallecano.

A day later, Sevilla has a scheduled home match against Real Sociedad.
