The club needed to bring in the equivalent of 24 million kronor by Friday to avoid bankruptcy. In the last minute, a final rescue plan may have been put in place.

We will use the weekend to evaluate a new and concrete bid that came in at the beginning of the board meeting, says chairman Peter Gitmark to NTB.

It's a local association that will be evaluated and may be added to a national group (of sponsors). If we land everything, we'll get 25 million (Norwegian kronor).

Vipers from Kristiansand have been in an economic crisis for a longer period, despite the team being very successful on the handball court and winning the Champions League three years in a row (2021-2023).

In Vipers, the Swedish national team players Jamina Roberts, Carin Strömberg, and Nina Koppang (currently injured) play together with many other handball stars who are to play in the European Championship in a month and a half. And of course, they wouldn't want to be without a club address so close to the championship. They didn't even get their monthly salary paid on Friday.

On Sunday, it will be decided at a new board meeting whether Vipers will make it or have to be declared bankrupt.
