The past few weeks have seen a dispute between the Sweden Democrats and SKMA, where the committee against anti-Semitism has written that Jimmie Åkesson "leads a party that not only has roots in Nazism but also currently includes a number of representatives at different levels who have expressed anti-Semitism".
In a response on Friday, the Sweden Democrats write that SKMA "ignores our desire for a meeting to clear up any misunderstandings", instead repeating their "attacks" on the party:
"Against this background, we hereby declare that we from now on regard SKMA as a political actor, whose activities to a large extent involve influencing public opinion against the cooperation in general, and the Sweden Democrats in particular", write the five Sweden Democrats representatives, including party leader Jimmie Åkesson.
The issue also became topical in connection with SVT's party leader debate on Sunday, when Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson said that SKMA represented a "party line" when the organization pointed out that a number of Sweden Democrats representatives at different levels had expressed anti-Semitism.
The Liberals' party leader Johan Pehrson has previously said that SKMA is "an important organization that one listens to" and that criticism of the Sweden Democrats should not be seen as a party line. This is dismissed by the Sweden Democrats:
"On the contrary, no one – especially not representatives of the current government – has any reason to take this organization seriously", write the representatives.
