Two Swedes are through to this evening's semi-final on 200 metres at the European Championship in Rome.

Both Julia Henriksson and Nora Lindahl won their heats.

The 19-year-old Nora Lindahl set a personal record with 16 hundredths when she ran in 22.97. Julia Henriksson was also close to her week-old record from the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, two hundredths away with 22.91.

The Swedish women had the third and fourth fastest times in the heats.

Henriksson is only seven hundredths away from Linda Haglund's 25-year-old Swedish record. She believes it can go even faster in this evening's semi-final.

Things are going well for Swedish sprinters right now. Henrik Larsson was in the final on 100 metres and Erik Erlandsson has made it to the final on 200. Moreover, Henriksson made it to the semi-final on 100 metres.

Lindahl is surprised to be so fast already this year. Since she left school last year, she has been training full-time back home in Luxembourg.

Runner Wilma Nielsen also made it through to the semi-final after a superb race in 800 metres. The 23-year-old beat her personal best with a time of 2.01,82.

Carl Bengtström did his part in the semi-final of 400 metres hurdles. He is through to the final after a good race and above all a good finish.
