The collision occurred on Monday morning and a large rescue operation was launched.
During the morning, Region Västmanland went into emergency mode to handle the operation and take care of the injured.
According to Jonas Ekström, deputy healthcare director in the region, eleven people were taken to hospital by ambulance. Three of them to Örebro Hospital and eight to Västerås Hospital.
No one is critically injured, but I don't know the details of the injuries, he says.
In addition, nine people were taken to Köping Hospital for assessment and crisis support.
According to the rescue service, around 200 people were on the train during the collision, when a contact wire was also torn down.
The accident has caused disruptions to train traffic on several routes. The prognosis, which is uncertain, is that traffic will be able to resume at the earliest at 05.00 on Tuesday.
