Turkey, one of the toughest critics of Israel's actions in Gaza, is the latest nation in line trying to be involved in the case.
"No country in the world is above international law", writes the Turkish Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Oncu Keceli in a post on X.
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has previously accused Israel of genocide and demanded that the country be punished by international courts.
The President has also praised the militant Islamist group Hamas – in contrast to Western countries that have branded Hamas as a terrorist organization – and called it a liberation movement.
It was at the end of last year that South Africa accused Israel of genocide-like actions against Gaza's population and sued the country before the ICJ.
