Two boys are still being cared for at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital in Stockholm after the lightning strike on Lidingö on Thursday. Chief Physician Lars Falk says in a statement to TT that the boys' injuries are serious but their condition has improved.

"Both patients' conditions have improved significantly. None of the patients are life-threateningly injured," says Falk.

The boys were assessed on Friday to have very serious injuries. They were two of a total of eight young people who were injured when the lightning struck during a football training session on Lidingö on Thursday. They had taken shelter from the storm under a tree. A total of eight were taken to hospital.

"We're clearly feeling very bad as a club right now and are only thinking of those affected," wrote club manager Markus Karlsson in a statement to TT on Friday.

A third boy who was also assessed to have serious injuries has been discharged from the hospital.
