Ukraine continues to urge its allies to give Ukrainian soldiers greater freedom to strike at military targets within Russia – since several countries have partially lifted restrictions on the use of Western weapons.

The issue has split Ukraine's friends, but over the past few days, more NATO countries – including the US and Germany – have given Ukraine the green light to use its weapons against targets in Russia, at least as long as it's about "military targets".

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is on Monday in the Philippines for an unexpected visit where he is trying to drum up support for the peace conference on the Ukraine war that Switzerland is hosting later in June.

In a statement, Zelensky suggests that Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos will attend the peace conference, but it's not confirmed whether the president himself or a representative will travel to Switzerland.

Zelensky participated in the Shangri-La defense conference in Singapore over the weekend, where he accused Russia and China of trying to sabotage the meeting in Switzerland.

Zelensky will also attend the G7 summit in Italy at the end of next week, according to his government's spokesperson for state Ukrainian TV.

Whether the president will participate in person or remotely is still unclear.
