The USA has carried out air strikes against several military targets in Yemen belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi movement.
The attacks targeted five underground weapons depots and were carried out, among other things, with strategic B-2 bomber planes, according to the US Defense Minister Austin Lloyd in a statement.
The weapons in the facilities are said to have been used in attacks against civilian and military vessels in the region, according to the statement.
"This was a unique demonstration of the USA's ability to target facilities that our opponents try to keep out of reach, no matter how deeply buried underground, hardened or fortified they are," says Lloyd.
The Houthi movement, which controls large parts of Yemen after the civil war in the country, has attacked civilian vessels in shipping lanes off its coast since the Gaza war broke out.
The Iran-backed movement has also fired at Israel from Yemen on several occasions.
