The US Department of Justice is requesting information and answers from Saab regarding the Gripen affair with Brazil on 36 fighter jets.
The announcement about Brazil's purchase of 36 fighter jets came in 2014 and an agreement was signed the following year. Last year, Saab inaugurated a production line on site in Brazil where 15 of the 36 planes will be manufactured.
"Both Brazilian and Swedish authorities have previously investigated parts of the Brazilian procurement of fighter jets. These investigations were concluded without indicating any wrongdoing on Saab's part", writes the Swedish defense group and aircraft manufacturer in a press release, adding:
"Due to confidentiality, Saab cannot provide any further comments."
Thursday's announcement that American authorities are requesting answers from Saab regarding the Gripen affair with Brazil affected the Saab stock on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
