The man has threatened his partner's life and assaulted her repeatedly. Now that he has served his sentence for gross violation of a woman's integrity, he is prohibited from residing in parts of Malmö. This opportunity will be utilized more in the future, says Jonas Lander, who leads the Malmö project Trygg relation – free from violence.
"The police should not wait for new crimes to be committed, but do everything in our power to prevent further violence," he says on the police website.
He believes that the residence ban is a powerful tool and warns that more examples will follow.
The ban, which the probation service has decided on in connection with the man's conditional release, applies for one year in the parts of Malmö where the woman lives. The reason is that the police assess that there is a risk that he will again approach the woman he has a contact ban against.
