A 45-year-old woman from Karlstad has been sentenced to twelve years' imprisonment for attempted murder of her former partner, reports Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
Now we can maybe live a normal life again, says the former partner to Aftonbladet.
The woman was at her former partner's home almost two years ago to sort out practical matters regarding their joint children when the two ended up in bed. Then the woman pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the throat and abdomen.
The investigation into the case has been lengthy and also involved allegations of rape against the man, according to Aftonbladet. The woman has been free throughout and the man has been forced to live in secret to protect himself and their children.
The woman has consistently denied the crime and instead claimed that she acted in self-defence against the man.
