He won the first set – but then the French Open ended for Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian fell in the round of 16 against Australian Alex de Minaur with a 1–3 set score.

World number five reached the quarterfinals in 2021, which is his best result, but has also been eliminated in the first round in five of his eight appearances in the grand slam tournament in Paris.

For de Minaur, the 11th-ranked player on the ATP world ranking, either German Alexander Zverev or Holger Rune from Denmark awaits in the quarterfinals.

On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka, the world's second-ranked player from Belarus, continues to impress. 6–2, 6–3 against Emma Navarro, USA, means that the 26-year-old is through to the quarterfinals.
