World number one Scottie Scheffler won the PGA Tour's major tournament The Memorial in Ohio, with a total of eight strokes under par.

Afterwards, he was able to celebrate with his newborn son Bennett.

For Scheffler, it has been a special time lately. In May, he was initially accused of reckless driving and later of gross violence against an official, minor vandalism, and failing to follow police instructions.

This occurred before the second round of the PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. Scheffler has previously spoken about how he had to prepare for the second round in a police cell.

Later, the news came that the formal charges were dropped and he avoided prosecution – whereupon he was able to continue playing as usual.

Six strokes behind Scheffler in the tournament in Ohio came Swedish player Ludvig Åberg, who, like the American, went round in 74 strokes, two over par, which was enough for a shared fifth place on the challenging course.

Ludvig Åberg has been struggling with meniscus problems during the spring and missed the cut in the PGA Championship, which was his previous tournament. After that, the 24-year-old star had two competition-free weeks.

The fact that Åberg was among the leaders in Ohio bodes well for the US Open, the year's third major, which starts on Thursday.
