World number two Coco Gauff, 20, against 17th-ranked Emma Navarro, 23.

The latter emerged victorious from the encounter, after winning in two straight sets (6–4, 6–3).

Thanks to everyone who has been here and watched, I long to play again, says Navarro in the post-match interview.

Coco is obviously an incredible player. I have a lot of respect for her and what she has achieved at such a young age, it's really fantastic. I knew she wouldn't make it easy for me tonight, I wanted to play aggressively and I think I succeeded, says Navarro in Eurosport after the win.

Navarro played a good match against a weak Gauff, who during the second set appealed to her coach Brad Gilbert for coaching.

Help me! Gauff shouted to her box.

It's the first time Navarro reaches a quarterfinal in Wimbledon.

I'm extremely grateful to play here on center court, in a tournament with so much history and tradition, and where so many legends have played before me, it's an honor.

In the quarterfinal, the 23-year-old will face world number seven Jasmine Paolini, who earlier in the day won against Madison Keys after the latter withdrew.

She (Paolini) is an extremely skilled player, she always fights hard to the end, so I think it will be a good match and I'm very excited, says Navarro.

Earlier in the day, Lulu Sun and Donna Vekic have also advanced to the quarterfinal in the women's singles, after their wins against Emma Raducanu and Paula Badosa, respectively.
