The Irish golf star, Shane Lowry, is breaking with the sponsor Kingspan. This is due to the construction company receiving criticism in a new investigation into the fire catastrophe at Grenfell Tower in London in 2017.
In a statement, the major winner says:
"Kingspan and I have jointly agreed to terminate our cooperation, we believe it is the best decision for all parties involved at this time. Neither party will comment on the matter further."
Kingspan is one of three companies that receive special criticism in a new report on the fire that claimed 72 lives. The company is accused of completely disregarding fire safety when building the properties.
Survivors of the fire have previously directed criticism at Lowry for not listening to their appeals to terminate the contract with Kingspan.
Shane Lowry has been collaborating with Kingspan since 2017.
