AIK shut out by Gais – again

AIK is still struggling under new coach Mikkjal Thomassen. The team suffered its second of two possible losses since the Faroese took over. Both have come against Gais.

Exactly a week ago, Mikkjal Thomassen suffered a loss in his first match as AIK coach when the team lost to Gais with 2–0.

Now, a week later, the teams clashed again, and the outcome was the same this time. Gais snatched all three points at Strawberry arena, again without being able to break through the green and white defense.

The only goal of the match came as early as the third minute, when Alexander Ahl Holmström managed to find Gustav Lundgren in a well-timed run towards the goal, and 1–0 was a fact. The result stood throughout the match, and when the final whistle blew, the home crowd booed their team, which has now dropped to eleventh place in the table.

Thus, the Faroese is still on zero points since taking over AIK in mid-July.

Losing to a team once is normal, but if it happens twice, it's because they're better than us. And right now, they have confidence, they're winning matches, and we've just changed coaches and started a new process, which always takes a little time, says AIK's Rui Modesto to Max.

For Gais, on the other hand, the win was not just a regular "three".

The three points not only meant a climb to fifth place in the table but also that they finally managed to overcome the away curse that has haunted the team lately. Before the match, the team had lost the last five away matches outside Gamla Ullevi.
