Former national team star Abeba Aregawi won the Corrida de Langueux race in a surprising comeback after nine years.
It was her first competition since the Finnkampen in 2015.
Aregawi won the French 10-kilometre race in a time of 31.05.
We will now follow up with Abeba and listen to her thoughts and plans for future competitions, says the Swedish Athletics Association's general secretary Stefan Olsson to Expressen.
He continues:
We were alerted about a week ago that Abeba would be running this race. We had no indications beforehand, so it came as a real surprise to us.
Aregawi, 33, began competing for Sweden in 2012. She was initially banned for doping after testing positive for the substance meldonium.
The Swedish-Ethiopian was later cleared, but never regained her previous form. Instead, she quit.
She does not currently represent any Swedish club. This means it cannot be a Swedish record, but regardless, it is an impressive achievement, says Stefan Olsson.
