Argentina's men's football team in the Olympics has not had an optimal start. Yesterday, the team was involved in a scandalous match, where fireworks were thrown in, several pitch invaders took to the field, and the match had to be interrupted in the final stages.
In addition, the team's equalizer was disallowed – two hours later.
The team's coach, Javier Mascherano, has revealed yet another scandal. Before the match, the team was robbed, and several players lost their belongings. Among them was midfielder Thiago Almada, who played the entire match.
They broke in when we were training and robbed us, says Mascherano.
But despite the scandal, the 40-year-old did not want to ruin the team's buildup.
We didn't want to say anything directly after training. I don't think it helps at all. But of course, it's unpleasant when such things happen, continues the former Barcelona player.
The incident has now been reported to the police.
