The Körsbärsgården art hall is being forced to take a pause, as the operation does not receive the support required to continue.
"To be able to run the art hall, long-term financing and at least two to three employees year-round are required. Our ambition is to try to secure the economic part, but in the meantime, we unfortunately have to close", says Cecilia Schelin Seidegård, chairman of the foundation that runs the art hall, in a press release.
The founders of the art hall have worked voluntarily for several years, and the operation has been able to survive thanks to contributions from private individuals and, for example, the General Inheritance Fund. However, the funds for the basic operation, which have been sought through state and regional cooperation, are lacking.
"Culture is on a starvation diet in the last two years' budget proposals", it is written in the press release.
Körsbärsgården is located on southern Gotland. Since 2010, the founders Marita and Jon Jonsson have successively built an art hall, sculpture gallery, pavilions, and a sculpture park.
