Newly crowned bronze medalist Tara Babulfath had a hard time accepting the third warning that cost her a place in the Olympic Games judo final.

After the loss, she turned to the referee and questioned the decision – something that will likely result in a penalty.

There will be repercussions, says Babulfath's coach Jane Bridge to the media on site.

Despite the referee asking Tara Babulfath to return to the mat and thank her opponent for the match, the Swede continued.

Already then, after the match, there was a risk of disqualification, explains Bridge.

They would have a discussion about whether she would be allowed to continue. I was afraid they would disqualify her, but fortunately, they let her continue, says Bridge.

Tara Babulfath tells Radiosporten that she became upset because she did not agree with the referee's decision.

Had it been a smaller competition, I wouldn't have made a big deal out of it, but it was the Olympic Games.

What it was in the referee's assessment that she did not agree with, she does not want to say at present.

I haven't reviewed the matches and haven't seen everything, so I have no comments.

Judo is a sport that emphasizes etiquette. How the penalty may turn out is unclear.
