A bear has attacked a father and his son in Edsbyn municipality in Hälsingland, reports Aftonbladet. The incident occurred when the father and son were out hunting elk.
Neither of them is physically injured, and the bear was shot dead.
It's a guy who has shot a bear in self-defense, says Svenne Götesson, chairman of Ovanåkers western wildlife management area, to Aftonbladet.
The father tells SVT Gävleborg that he and his 11-year-old son approached a hole in the ground, which turned out to be a den, when the bear suddenly came rushing out towards the boy.
The father quickly managed to get his rifle up and shot the bear dead before it reached the boy.
We're doing fine. We're sitting out here in the forest waiting for the police. Physically, we're both okay, says the father to SVT.
