"Blue-White" broke long heavy streak against Hammarby

For the first time since 2016, IFK Göteborg managed to defeat Hammarby in the Allsvenskan football. Unbelievably nice. We didn't play the best match, but the most important thing was three points and we took them, says match hero Paulos Abraham in Max.

For the first time since 2016, IFK Göteborg managed to defeat Hammarby in the Allsvenskan football.

Incredibly nice. We didn't play the best match, but the most important thing was three points and we took them, says match hero Paulos Abraham in Max.

The former Hammarby coach Stefan Billborn was back at Tele2 Arena on Monday, but now in his new role as coach for IFK Göteborg.

There, he saw to it that his new team got a long-awaited 1-0 win against "Bajen".

Göteborg had not won against the Stockholm team in eight long years in the Allsvenskan - the last win came on May 23, 2016 - but that changed this evening.

Rib shot from equalization

After a pattern attack by Göteborg, 21-year-old Paulos Abraham could score the leading goal for the visitors in the 23rd minute. 1-0 stood until halftime - but despite that, the goal scorer was not entirely satisfied.

We have too little ball and unnecessary ball losses. We keep a clean sheet and score a goal forward, so we have something to work on, said Abraham in Max at halftime.

Hammarby had several fine chances for an equalizer, including a free kick by Nahir Besara with over 20 minutes left of the match, but the ball didn't want to go in this evening.

Nor did Göteborg lack opportunities, but the second half remained goalless and the 1-0 win was thus secured for "Blåvitt".

Incredibly nice. We didn't play the best match, but the most important thing was three points and we took them, says Abraham after the win.

AIK won away

In Halmstad, AIK were visiting. There, the visitors took the lead through a header by Rui Modesto with just over a quarter of an hour played.

In the second half, Ioannis Pittas extended to 2-0, and with that, the AIK striker has become a goal scorer in five Allsvenskan matches in a row.

Halmstad's Villiam Granath reduced in the end of the match, which thus ended 1-2.

This was AIK's first away win this Allsvenskan season.

I think this is our best match in a long time. We make it unnecessarily exciting at the end, but otherwise, it's a well-executed match, says AIK's Anton Salétros to Radiosporten after the win.
