The water samples conducted by Helsingevatten show that the water is potable, meaning it is safe to drink and use for cooking as usual.

The water reservoir was alarmed at the time of the break-in, but the installed cameras were not operational. After the shutdown of the 2G and 3G networks, the surveillance cameras do not function as they should, according to Helsingevatten's CEO Ylva Jedebäck Lindberg to P4 Gävleborg.

Now, the security will be reviewed.

We will make sure to have even more cameras, especially, says Jedebäck Lindberg to the channel.

It is unclear whether those who broke into the water reservoir reached as far as the drinking water pool.

The crime classification is suspected sabotage. No one has been arrested or suspected in the case.

The police are seeking those who may have made observations in connection with the incident. They are also eager to get in touch with "persons who may have access to surveillance cameras in the area", the police write on their website.
