A nurse was stabbed in the neck by a patient at the forensic psychiatric regional clinic in Växjö on Friday, according to Region Kronoberg.
According to the region, the patient got hold of a plastic utensil, broke it, and used it to stab the caregiver.
"This could have gone very badly! Luckily, the other present staff acted quickly and managed to prevent further violence", says forensic psychiatric chief Tina Fogelklou according to a press release.
The region has reported the incident to the police as an attempted murder and filed a work injury report to the Work Environment Authority.
"It's always extremely unpleasant when events like this occur. Support and care for the affected employee and other present staff are very important in the aftermath", says Tina Fogelklou.
