A cargo ship has developed engine problems and is blocking commercial traffic on the Göta älv near Angeredsbron.
The ship, which was en route to Lidköping, reported the engine problems on Monday morning, as Göteborgs-Posten was the first to report.
They initially reported that smoke was coming out, but then established that it wasn't a fire. However, they couldn't get the engine going again, says Björn Alverfeldt of the Swedish Maritime Administration's press service.
In connection with dropping anchor, the ship is said to have run aground softly.
The ship was anchored on the western side of the Göta älv on Monday morning.
At present, only one other ship is affected, which is on its way from Vänern southwards. It will have to wait in Lilla Edet, says Sanna Olsson, who is the operations area manager for the Göta älv and Vänern at the Swedish Maritime Administration.
We also have two ships heading north tonight, but it's not certain that they will be affected. It depends on how quickly the shipping company can get hold of tugboats.
