Part of E45 is closed after heavy rain caused a large landslide over the road. At the scene, it is flooded and the road has risen.

The queues are long and several vehicles are reported to be stuck.

There has been a huge gathering of water, and it has made the road rise, we have been told, says Lidija Bradaric at the Rescue Service Storgöteborg to TT.

The rescue service is currently working on evacuating people from the cars.

There are about 30 cars left, says Bradaric.

It is unclear how many people are involved. The rescue service is also working on removing the cars that can be removed from the road.

Road closed

The road is closed at Tösslanda, between Lilla Edet and Trollhättan in Västergötland, writes the Swedish Transport Administration.

We are there with a larger resource package and are helping the police and the Swedish Transport Administration to block off, says Lidija Bradaric.

"There is no prognosis for when the road will be repaired", writes the administration on its website.

The incident has led to long queues.

Approximately, it is about six kilometers where there is a complete stop at present, said Matthias Westerlund at the Swedish Transport Administration to Expressen at 19:30.

Properties flooded

Road 2009, which is located a few kilometers away from E45, is also not accessible, writes the Swedish Transport Administration on its website. The reason is an earlier landslide.

The heavy rainfall has also led to several properties being affected, and the rescue service has received around 20 alarms about flooding from different residences and addresses in Lilla Edet, reports several media outlets.

"It has rained a lot in a short time, causing water damage in several properties locally in Lilla Edet. Currently, work is underway to inventory the situation and start pumping out water with pumps and suctioning with water suction machines", writes the Rescue Service Storgöteborg in a press release.
