The political satire on SVT is handled by "Swedish News". In Björn Gustafsson's new program "Unwind", which is also broadcast on Fridays this fall, it's just going to be fun.
We don't say much, we don't have any messages. If you don't read too much into it yourself, then we have a lot of really smart stuff, says Björn Gustafsson and laughs.
Those who have followed Björn Gustafsson over the years will recognize themselves. Several old characters are making a comeback. Among other things, viewers will get to see humor figure Benjamin again. He was first seen in the sketch series "Morning Sofa" on SVT over 15 years ago.
Back then, Benjamin was a very young youth reporter. And he's still a youth reporter in this program. But he's probably close to 40 now, says Björn Gustafsson and smiles.
Pops participates
Björn Gustafsson will also be poking fun at his coworkers at SVT. In the first program, for example, sports profile André Pops participates.
The series comes after a spring where Björn Gustafsson appeared as an interval act in Melodifestivalen, but the plans for the new sketch series were already in place earlier.
This was actually already in the works before. This was already rolling then, he explains.
Dorsin as a role model
There are fewer sketch programs on TV. They are more expensive to produce than broadcasting programs with stand-up comedians who tell jokes straight up and down.
Yes, stand-up has really taken off. Then I probably have a penchant for the old. And if I'm going to predict the future, I think this form will get a "revival" soon.
Björn Gustafsson holds up Henrik Dorsin as a role model, who put up revues at Scalateatern in Stockholm.
I think it will grow into more of that type of entertainment again, i.e. more comedian actors doing sketches and characters like what Gösta Ekman and Hasseåtage did.
"Unwind" premieres on August 23 on SVT Play and one day later on SVT1 and SVT24.
