Oasis plans world tour

The rumor was true – after 15 years, the Gallagher brothers have buried the hatchet and Oasis is reuniting. The news comes the same week as the breakthrough album "Definitely Maybe" turns 30 years old.

Next summer, they will play at Wembley in London on four occasions, plus additional concerts in Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin. In total, there will be 14 performances, with the big premiere in Cardiff on July 4.

The concerts will be the only ones in Europe next year, although there are plans for performances on other continents, the band reports on its website.

The brothers have also published a statement about burying the hatchet:

"The weapons have fallen silent.

The stars are aligned.

The great wait is over.

Come and see.

It will not be broadcast on TV."

More than five billion

Even before the announcement about the reunion and concerts, The Sun asked music industry expert and professor Jonathan Shalit to make a prognosis about how much money these could generate. His bid is more than five billion kronor in total.

With tickets, sponsorship, merchandise, and film, I would guess an income for Noel and Liam of more than 50 million pounds each (equivalent to 670 million kronor), he said to the newspaper before the details were made public.

The setlist next summer will not be based on the breakthrough album "Definitely Maybe", according to The Guardian, but there are no plans to record new music. There are also no confirmed details about which musicians will be part of the band. Liam Gallagher is currently on a solo anniversary tour with songs from "Definitely Maybe" while Noel Gallagher has finished a tour with his band High Flying Birds.

Rumors about an Oasis reunion gained momentum after Liam Gallagher's performance at the British Reading Festival last weekend. Then, the date "27/8-24" appeared on the big screens, a hint that something big was happening on that date.

The same date was shared shortly after on both Noel Gallagher's and Oasis' official X accounts.

Broken guitar

Oasis broke up in 2009 after a fight before a concert in Paris that ended with Liam smashing his brother's guitar. Over the years since then, Liam Gallagher has repeatedly appealed to his brother to reunite, while Noel has been completely uninterested, and their public feuds have followed each other.

Oasis was formed in Manchester, Britain, in the early 1990s. During nearly 20 years of activity, they sold over 70 million albums and were one of Britain's absolute biggest bands. They repeatedly topped the British sales chart and had eight number one singles. Among the band's hit songs are "Don't look back in anger", "Sad song", "Supersonic", and "Wonderwall".
