After almost a week of searching, a 15-year-old boy who had gone missing was found dead in a stream in Alingsås with over a hundred stab wounds.
A 16-year-old boy is now sentenced to four years of closed youth care for murder.
The court finds that the murder "was committed in relatively brutal form on a deserted and secluded location and involved a significant amount of violence with extremely extensive slash and cut injuries."
The boy is also sentenced for gross desecration of the dead.
According to the prosecution, the murder was prompted by a conflict, but the court does not consider it possible to determine the 16-year-old's motive. The court finds, however, that he showed no signs of remorse or empathy after the event and during the trial.
The notable murder occurred at the beginning of October last year. When the 15-year-old went missing from his home in Alingsås on October 2, an extensive search effort was launched. Six days later, he was found dead in Säveån, murdered with over a hundred stab wounds.
The same day, the now-convicted 16-year-old was arrested, who was acquainted with the victim.
According to the verdict, the boys met on October 2 at the location where the 15-year-old was later found dead, and the 16-year-old allegedly burned clothes and gloves to destroy evidence.
The convicted boy allegedly returned to the crime scene three days after the murder and dragged the body into the adjacent Säveån.
The 16-year-old has admitted to meeting the 15-year-old at the murder scene and inflicting some violence, but denies the crime, citing self-defense. He claims, according to his lawyer, to have "limited memory" of the event.
A forensic medical examination has shown that the 16-year-old did not suffer from a serious mental disorder at the time of the crime. The evidence consists of, among other things, DNA, mobile phone traffic, and the boy's own statements.
The sentence for a person over 18 years old corresponds to 24 years in prison according to the court.
