The trailer seemed to pump up Coppola's new film as a masterpiece of the same caliber as "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now". This by citing the famous critics Roger Ebert and Pauline Kael's harsh judgments about Coppola's previous films. But their, and several others', alleged quotes could not be found in any of their texts.
In some cases, it was correct quotes – but about the wrong films.
Lionsgate is now recalling the trailer and apologizing to the critics and Coppola. "We messed up", says a spokesperson.
The film has a budget of 120 million dollars, approximately 1.2 billion kronor, which the director has financed himself.
