Djurgården Slumped After Cocky Outburst

It's risky to be too cocky ahead of a derby. But Cathinka Tandberg knew what she was talking about. With her two goals, she was behind the 2-0 win away against Djurgården.

Before Monday's women's football derby, the Norwegian stuck out her neck quite a bit when she, in an interview with Aftonbladet, stated that Hammarby would "run over" Djurgården.

She could have had to eat her words. Instead, it was she who was behind the win at Stockholm Stadium, sending Hammarby to second place in the series, behind superior Rosengård.

Top Scorer Last Year

In the 19th minute, she quickly turned around on the edge of the penalty area and scored 1–0 with a pressured shot in one corner.

Three minutes later, she more or less repeated the feat. This time, Tandberg came with speed towards the penalty area, veered in towards the middle before precision-shooting 2–0 low in the same corner.

The 20-year-old Norwegian won the top scorer title with 19 goals last year, but had a heavier start to this season with only four goals in 13 matches for Linköping.

But then this summer, she moved to Hammarby and there, it has really taken off. After Monday's two full hits, she is already up to four goals in as many matches in the "Bajen" jersey.

Important Vittsjö Point

I may have a self-confidence that has been built up more now. You've come into it and get a lot of energy from this crowd. It's a lot about self-confidence. And I know I have a good shot, said Cathinka Tandberg to Viaplay after the first half.

The Hammarby crowd continued to make the most noise on the Stadium's stands after the break. And despite Djurgården getting better order in their game in the second half, the away win was never really threatened.

In Monday's other match, Vittsjö took an important point in the relegation battle, 0–0 away against Växjö. Now, seven points separate them from Kif Örebro in the relegation spot.
