The Dubai-based airline Emirates is banning personal radios and walkie-talkies on board following the attack on thousands of personal radios in Lebanon recently.

"All passengers on flights to, from, or via Dubai are prohibited from bringing personal radios and walkie-talkies in checked or hand luggage," the company writes on its website.

At the same time, flight stops to Iran and Iraq are being extended until Tuesday due to the escalating conflict level in the Middle East. Flight stops to Lebanon will apply until October 15, the company announces.

At least 40 people were killed and thousands injured when personal radios, mainly in Lebanon, exploded on September 17, followed by a similar incident the next day when walkie-talkies exploded. Most of the units were carried by members of the Shia militia Hezbollah, Israel's enemy.
