The English women's football team is making sure that the qualification for the European Football Championship is still evenly matched and exciting.

Just a few hours after Sweden defeated Ireland with a score of 1-0, and secured a small grip on the second place in the table behind France, England responded.

It was a 2-1 win against France, and England went back to the same points as Sweden, but with a worse goal difference.

For Sweden's part, France is still to come away, and then England at home in the EM qualification, and a lot suggests that it will be dramatic all the way.

The two best teams in the group take direct spots to the EM.

The qualification for the European Football Championship in Switzerland 2025 is divided into several divisions, similar to the Nations League setup. Sweden plays in the A-division, the highest.

The first and second in A-division's four qualifying groups go directly to the EM. The third and fourth are forced to play a playoff in the fall. Switzerland is directly qualified.

Sweden's matches: April 5, England (1-1 away), April 9, France (0-1 home), May 31, Ireland (3-0 away), June 4, Ireland (1-0 home), July 12, France (away), July 16, England (home).

The standings in Sweden's group after four of six matches:

  1. France, 9 points (+2 goal difference), 2) Sweden, 7 points (+3), 3) England, 7 points (+2), 4) Ireland, 0 points (-7).
