The EU Commission's President Ursula von der Leyen is in Kiev to discuss Europe's support as winter approaches in Ukraine.
"My eighth visit to Kiev comes as the heating season is about to begin and Russia continues to target energy infrastructure. We will help Ukraine in its brave efforts", she writes on X.
Issues to be discussed on site in Kiev include, according to von der Leyen, winter preparedness, defense, and G7 loans.
On Thursday, the EU promised more support to Ukraine to cope with the war winter that is looming. The EU Commission announced that 160 million euros – approximately 1.8 billion kronor – will be made available to Ukraine. Around 60 million will go to humanitarian aid and about 100 million to repairs and renewable energy.
Half of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been destroyed in the war.
