Giuliani must hand over luxury apartment to election workers

A luxury apartment on Manhattan, a Hollywood star's old Mercedes and a jersey signed by baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. That, and much more, is now being forced to be handed over by Trump's former lawyer Rudy Giuliani to two election workers whom he has been convicted of slandering.

Rudy Giuliani, New York's former mayor and Trump's former personal attorney, was sentenced in December 2023 to pay the equivalent of more than 1.5 billion kronor to the two election workers.

According to the verdict, Giuliani made false claims that the two women, mother and daughter, engaged in electoral fraud when they counted votes in the state of Georgia during the 2020 presidential election – and Giuliani was convicted of defamation. He then applied for personal bankruptcy.

Now, a judge has decided that Giuliani must transfer a large number of valuables to the two women to pay off his debt, reports CNN.

Among other things, it concerns a luxurious penthouse apartment on Manhattan in New York, jewelry and furniture, a TV and several watches – including some that Giuliani received as gifts from European presidents after the 9/11 terrorist attack. The former mayor must also hand over a jersey signed by baseball player Joe DiMaggio and a 1980 Mercedes previously owned by film star Lauren Bacall.

In addition, the two women will receive approximately two million dollars, equivalent to around 21 million kronor, in legal fees that Giuliani claims the Trump campaign owes him.

This verdict sends a powerful message that there is a price to pay for those who intentionally choose to spread disinformation, says the women's attorney Aaron Nathan according to CNN.

Rudy Giuliani's spokesperson has not commented on the decision.
