Got the gold - the Swedes not near a medal

Bronze in Tokyo 2021, silver in Rio 2016 – now gold in Paris. Lydia Ko has completed the collection of OS medals. It's crazy, I don't understand it, she says after the victory in the golf tournament.

The women's golf has been decided. Maja Stark finished four under par and a shared tenth place. For Linn Grant, it was one over par and a shared 27th place.

The winner was former world number one Lydia Ko, New Zealand, on ten under par.

I had the most incredible experience in my three OS. To represent New Zealand, with the silver fern on my cap and my clothes, it has really been a special week – and three weeks – in my life, she says to the OS media site after the victory and continues:

To stand here with the gold now, it's crazy. I don't understand it.

Now 27-year-old Lydia Ko became, in February 2015, as a 17-year-old, the world's youngest world number one in golf. She held the position for 19 weeks until June the same year. After a brief absence from the throne, she became number one again in October 2015 and held the top spot for 85 weeks until June 2017.

Ko, now ranked 22nd in the world, was only 15 years old when she won her first LPGA title and has won a total of 20.
