Golf amateur Louise Rydqvist was one of Friday's names in the British Open.

The unknown Swede went five under par, next best in the round, and climbed 43 places in the results list to a shared fifth place.

But if Friday was an absolutely fantastic day, Saturday was the opposite and ended with a heavy fall.

The 23-year-old from Värnamo was noted for a birdie-free round and made six bogeys. Thus, she stopped at 78 strokes for the day.

Rydqvist fell out of the top battle and is in a shared 43rd place.

Instead, Saturday's Swedish player was Linn Grant, who climbed significantly.

She utilized the better weather, with less wind at St Andrews on early Saturday.

After a soft start with four straight pars, the 25-year-old began to pick up speed, making four birdies on the next five holes.

During the final nine holes, the game cooled down again, but Grant "finished" on 68 strokes, four under par, and on par total in the competition. Thus, she climbed significantly on the leaderboard to a shared 19th place.

South Korean Jiyai Shin took the lead after a 67-round.

She is seven strokes under par and leads by one stroke ahead of Lilia Vu, USA.

American Nelly Korda led before Saturday, but had a tough day and went three over par. She is third, two strokes behind.

Total of five Swedish players cleared the "cut" on Friday and got to play on during the weekend.

Linnea Ström (+2) is in a shared 34th place, Maja Stark and Rydqvist are one stroke behind her, and Johanna Gustafsson has +6 after three rounds.
