Guidetti behind the winning goal – AIK's fifth straight

In-form AIK continue to win – the fifth straight three-pointer came away against Värnamo. John Guidetti set up Ioannis Pittas for the winning goal already in the fourth minute.

The Allsvenskan football audience has not seen much of John Guidetti lately, but at Finnvedsvallen in Värnamo, he was quickly and cheerfully part of AIK's starting eleven for the first time since last year.

Guidetti was supposed to start on the bench, but shortly before kickoff, it was announced that he would play from the start instead of Lamine Fanne. The 20-year-old Fanne was cleared for Luton on Friday evening in a multi-million deal – he will join the Championship club after the turn of the year – and was not considered ready for play now.

But it was Guidetti.

"Fine goal"

The match was not even four minutes old when the injury-prone ex-national team player finely wall-played with Ioannis Pittas. The Cypriot calmly rolled in 1–0 for AIK.

A little quick pull, a little unusual position. When you get the chance, it's just to try to take it as well as you can and help the team, says Guidetti to Max.

About the goal, which was the only one in the match, the 32-year-old striker said:

Fine goal, absolutely, playing football I've always known I can. That's not what I was worried about.

The AIK victory, which came without impressing in the game, puts a stop to the club's perfect Allsvenskan August under new coach Mikkjal Thomassen. Five wins in as many matches have sent AIK soaring up the table. When the final whistle blew on Saturday afternoon, "Gnaget" had climbed to fourth place in a somewhat faltering table.

VSK stuck at the bottom

Värnamo remains stuck on the relegation spot at the bottom, where bottom-dwellers Kalmar FF managed to close in a bit by snatching a point (1–1) away against Gais.

Also stuck below the relegation line is second-to-last Västerås SK after 1–2 at home against Sirius. Noel Milleskog scored the visitors' winning goal in the beginning of the second half.
