Children's book legend Sven Nordqvist will not be writing and illustrating any more books about old man Pettson and the cat Findus. 18 books about the two characters will have to suffice.
It's probably not going to happen anymore. I've got a bit tired of it. The desire to make books, to illustrate, has decreased more and more, says Sven Nordqvist to SVT Cultural News.
Pettson and Findus are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and they have also featured in films, Advent calendars, TV series and games. And it's outside the world of books that one will now have to find new adventures with the duo.
Now, there aren't that many years left in life, so then it would be fun to do something else, I think, says Sven Nordqvist.
