Joshua after the defeat: I'll keep fighting

After last night's loss to Daniel Dubois, questions were immediately raised about the future of the two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua - which he quickly answered. "I will of course continue to fight," he said afterwards.

Last night's boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois for the IBF title ended in a crushing defeat for Joshua in the fifth round in front of 96,000 spectators at Wembley in London. Joshua had hoped to make history by winning the heavyweight title for the third time.

At the press conference afterwards, Joshua assured his fans that he would step into the ring again.

We took a chance and lost this time. But I will of course continue to fight. I am a warrior.

If nothing else, there are strong economic motives for Joshua to continue. Last night's top match was sponsored by financially strong Riyadh Season, Matchroom Boxing, and Queensberry Promotions. No sums have been officially mentioned, but for comparison, Joshua received, according to sportysalaries.com, the equivalent of 25 million kronor in his comeback match against Jermaine Franklin last year.

According to British media, the planned sum for last night's match could land on a significantly higher amount, depending, among other things, on how many paid to see the match online.
