Kalla and Fischer in "Champions of Champions": "Want to Win"

Ski legend Charlotte Kalla and former national football team's defensive general Nilla Fischer are competitive people to their fingertips. Now they are competing in SVT's "Masters of Masters". And they take their participation very seriously. I will push myself, says Fischer to TT.

Actually, Charlotte Kalla was supposed to be part of SVT's long-running show already in 2022, right after she had ended her active cross-country skiing career, but then she was forced to cancel due to an injury.

It was really at the last minute. The same day we were supposed to leave, I was at the gym and then I felt it wasn't reasonable to participate, she says.

So it's going to be extra fun now. I've always followed the program.

The Competitive Devil Awakens

Kalla says that she's not in the same shape as two years ago, but that she still takes the competitions seriously.

The most important thing is to have fun. But I'll probably get a little annoyed if it doesn't go as I want, she says.

Former football star Nilla Fischer will probably also mutter if it goes against her.

I thought the competitive devil in me had laid down. But just when we played a little here at home a few days ago, I felt that it's still there, so when it comes to competitions, I want to win, she says.

Looking Forward to Sofa Chats

Both Fischer and Kalla, who, by the way, competed in the same season of TV4's "Let's Dance", are most looking forward to getting to know other former elite athletes and sharing their own careers.

The segment where the participants sit on a sofa and get to see highlights from their careers is something they're really looking forward to.

When I was active, it was a lot "what's the next thing?" for me. I probably haven't really taken in what I've been part of. So it's going to be emotional. It's going to be a bit of an unreal feeling, but it's going to be great, says Fischer.

Kalla adds:

I rarely take the time to be proud of what I've achieved, so in that way, it's going to be very special. It's also going to be fun to get to share in the others' active careers.

The 17th season of "Masters of Masters" will be broadcast on SVT in the spring of 2025. Kalla and Fischer will, among others, meet former football player Johan Elmander and Markus Oscarsson, who has won both Olympic and World Championship gold in his career as a canoeist.
